Elaine Chmilar Tohill is originally from New Zealand. After living in France and Spain she settled in Loughrea, County Galway, as part of the Tynagh mine workforce. Later, music teaching in secondary schools provided sustenance; Gerard Manley Hopkins and Leonard Cohen provided inspiration; and Baffle, a poetry group co-founded by Elaine, provides an opportunity for exposure and publication. The Baffle Festival is an annual literary celebration known throughout Ireland.
Elaine Chmilar-Tohill est originaire de Nouvelle-Zélande. Après avoir vécu en France et en Espagne elle s’installe à Loughrea dans le comté de Galway où elle travaille pour la mine de Tynagh. Puis, elle est professeur de musique dans des lycées. Gerard Manley Hopkins et Leonard Cohen sont ses sources d’inspiration. Elle participe à la fondation d’un groupe de poésie, Baffle, qui lui permet d’exposer et publier ses œuvres. Le Baffle Festival est un évènement littéraire annuel bien connu en Irlande. |
